### How Do You Earn
SpeedLight is a paid, subscription-based viewer. When you refer someone, and that person pays, you get **up to 20%** commission.
There are three ways to refer people to SpeedLight:

2. **Rez** the Land Totem in Second Life\
*Residents click on and join SpeedLight using the sign up URL*

# Keeping avatar online
With SpeedLight you can keep your Second Life avatar online even when you disconnect.
Choose your online mode:

# Mass IM
Allowed variables:
* SL\_NAME - full Second Life name (e.g. "Glaznah Gassner")
* FIRST\_NAME - first Second Life name (e.g. "Glaznah")
* LAST\_NAME - first Second Life name (e.g. "Resident")
* DISPLAY\_NAME - avatar display name (e.g. "My lovely avatar"). SL name will be used if no display name available for avatar
* DISPLAY\_FIRST\_NAME - avatar display first name (e.g. "My"). SL first name will be used if no display name available for avatar
Here's a message example:
*Hello **SL\_NAME**, I work with SpeedLight. How are you doing today?*
# IM Autoresponder
IM Autoresponder can currently be activated in “on all statuses” mode and will send a reply once every hour automatically to individual IMs received.
## How to activate
Using the menu on the left hand side of your screen you can activate this feature as follows:
* Click IMs
* Go to Autoresponder tab
* Check the box "On all statuses"/ Un-check to turn off
* Add your response
* Choose a variable
* Click save
## Variables
%SLNAME% - Converts to full SL name of the recipient (e.g Quincyjohnes Resident or Glaznah Gassner)
%FIRST\_NAME% - Converts to only first name of the recipient (e.g "Glaznah" instead of "Glaznah Gassner")
%DISPLAY\_NAME% - Converts to display name of the recipient
# IM history encryption
Your Second Life IMs history is being stored at SpeedLight server. This allows you switching devices easily, but you may worry that some database stores your messages text.
You can conceal your IMs history completely by encrypting them.
### Encrypting your IMs
The IMs history encryption can be enabled in "Avatar settings":
What happens when you enter the IMs history password:
1. Your browser generates two keys: one to **encrypt** messages, and one to **decrypt**
2. The key to **encrypt** goes to the SpeedLight server
3. The key to **decrypt** stays on your PC
Now all your further messages will be encrypted on server but visible in your browser
### Accessing IMs from another device
If you open SpeedLight on another device, you won't see your messages' text because is is encrypted:
Click the link and enter your IMs history password to see IMs on this device.
### Turning off the IMs history encryption
You can disable the IM encryption at any time if you know the password. Just untick the "Encrypt" checkbox and confirm the decryption.
All your existing IMs will be decrypted back.
If you don't remember the password, you can turn the encryption off too. But the text contents of the IMs will be lost.
### Changing the IM history password
To change the IM history password, disable the encryption first. Then enable the encryption back and specify the new encryption password.
**IMPORTANT!**** Do not enter** your SL password in the hint field. This field serves as a reminder for you to remember the encryption key.
# Quick IM Notecards
A SpeedLight feature which allows quickly sending notecards and receiving them from other residents.
A lot of SL residents send notecards when message delivery is important or the message is quite long. It is kind of SL e-mail. SpeedLight makes managing such notecards easier.
### Sending Quick IM Notecard
The notecard can be composed and sent directly from an IM dialog with a specific person:
The copy of the sent notecard stays in your inventory.
### Receiving the Quick IM NC
Any notecard you receive while being logged in with SpeedLight also appears in IM dialog:
You can accept the notecard and view it, or discard (but notecard is still available in inventory).

You can also quickly reply to notecard with another notecard!
# 3D World View
3D view allows seeing Second Life, walking and contacting other residents. 3D view is currently in development and its features are extended with every update.
There are two versions of 3D view:
1. "Gold" - the most advanced version, available for Gold avatars;

# 3D Avatars
SpeedLight 3D View displays avatars as animated stick figures:
It works this way because of several reasons:
* Second Life avatars can be unpredictably huge (up to *millions faces*),
* Huge avatar consume mobile traffic
* Huge avatar rendering drain the battery power on mobile devices
### Loading 3D avatars
You can load any avatar in 3D by demand by right-clicking (long-tapping) and choosing "Load 3D avatar" menu:
3D avatars are currently static (not animated) and still in development.

# 3D Shot
**3D Shot** is the feature of SpeedLight which allows making "live" 3D photos of in-world objects. Check an example below (open and use mouse/touch to rotate):

### How to create
Creating 3D Shot is simple:
1. Open SpeedLight 3D View
2. Right-click (or long-tap) an object
3. Choose "Make 3D Shot"
4. Click the notification button to open your shot.
#### Updating your existing 3D Shot
Right-click the same in-world object and select "Make 3D Shot" again.
### How to view and share
Login to SpeedLight, [3D Shots section](https://speedlight.io/my/viewer/glaznah_gassner/special/3dshots):
Click your shot to get a permanent shot URL.
### Storage fees
There's no per-shot storage fees. However, one-time purchase of "Lifetime 3D Shot" extension is required to keep **all avatar shots** forever.
All 3D Shots created during a test period **do not expire.**
# 3D Shot FAQ
#### What is 3D Shot?
3D Shot is an instant "photo" of a Second Life object. It is a link viewable in any browser, no Second Life required.
The primary goal is to allow showing your creations without Second Life: at SL Marketplace, in blogs and Facebook posts. *It is like a live picture which you can enter, rotate and zoom.*
#### Does 3D Shot changes with an original object? Gets removed?
No, 3D Shot is not connected with an original object. Original object can be modified or removed, and 3D Shot survives.
#### Can I make a 3D shot or the object I don't own?
Yes, you can do a shot of any object, even if you don't own it.
#### Is it safe to copy and display an object?
3D Shot it is not a tool for "copy-catting" an object: the copy is rougher; it does not contain important building data and scripts; all the data used is equal to a regular viewer's usage. The texture quality is much lower, too.
#### Can I make 3D Shot in viewers other than SpeedLight?
No, only SpeedLight viewer 3D allows creating 3D shots.
#### Will be there a shot of avatars?
Yes, we plan adding 3D shots of avatars, too. This is a bit more complex task because of animations and such. But we plan to implement it as well.
# Light Mode
Login to SL without registering with SpeedLight
Upon entering SpeedLight you get two options: **Enter SpeedLight** or **Login to SL directly.**
The latter is called "Light Mode". With **Light Mode** you can login your avatar to SL without crearing an account with SpeedLight.
However, some limitations apply to this mode:
* Your data will be completely wiped as soon as you click "Exit SpeedLight" or uninstall app. All your avatars, IMs and other related information will be removed.
* You can't make your avatar Gold (including any other [GOLD features](/viewer-features/facility-comparison)), this requires converting to a regular SpeedLight account.
# Visitor Radar
Visitor Radar is a feature of SpeedLight which allows monitoring the parcel/sim for new visitors, see new visitors and contact them promptly.
SpeedLight Visitor Radar resides at the Summary screen of the avatar:
Radar scans the sim you're in every 5 seconds. It shows:
* residents (as color-coded dots),
* the distance between you and them,
* the time you have been seeing them around.
Radar works sim-wide, giving you an ability to monitor your parcel/sim from any distance (including skyboxes).

Recently teleported visitors appear at top of the list:

### Interacting with visitors
Visitor Radar provides an ability to quickly contact any of the residents you see.
Click/tap resident directly on the map (the colored dot) or on the Resident List. The menu appears giving you options to interact:
* The “Resident Info” menu item gives you an access to the visitors 2nd life’s information.
* The “Quick IM” option allows you to send a quick IM. Either type your text or use message templates (Gold only feature):\

* “Local Chat Greet” allows you to quickly greet the people in Local Chat, up to 20 meters around you.

How to activate RLV feature with SpeedLight
SpeedLight offers a versatile RLV (Restrained-Love-Viewer), supporting most of the **major RLV products** around Second Life.
**Important Note -** RLV requires a [Gold facility](/pricing), currently it is not a free feature.
How to activate RLV:

3. Tap **more** in the right-side menu\

5. Select **RLV** in the side-menu

# Translate SpeedLight
## SpeedLight Translation
SpeedLight now includes a translation feature that allows Viewer texts, messages, and menus to be translated into virtually any language.
### Translating Messages
You can translate messages such as IMs, Local Chat, Group Messages, and more into your preferred language.
To translate a message:
1. Tap the **three-dot menu** next to the message.
2. Select **“Translate to…”**
3. Choose your desired target language.
You can also enable this option to remain visible at all times:
**Avatar Settings → Messaging**
### Translating the Viewer
SpeedLight also allows you to translate the entire Viewer interface, including menus and options.
To change the Viewer language:
1. Tap or click the **language bar**.
2. Select your preferred language.

Please note that **SpeedLight Translation is currently a beta feature**, and translations may not always be 100% accurate. We are actively working to improve the quality of translations.

# Create avatar
To use an avatar in SpeedLight, specify your details:
1. Avatar Second Life name (not the display name)
2. Avatar Second Life password
3. The in-world location to login
Once you create an avatar, it can be logged into Second Life.
### Saving the password
You may want to save the avatar password with SpeedLight if you don't want to enter it each time. The password is stored on your device only (not passed to SpeedLight at all).

## Passwords
SpeedLight servers **never** receive your passwords.
According to Linden Lab Third Party Viewer policy, viewers are strictly forbidden to send credentials anywhere except SL login servers. SpeedLight is an [approved Second Life viewer](https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory/SpeedLight) and obeys this rule.
When you login, your credentials are being sent directly to SL login server. It responds with a one-time login token which is being used by SpeedLight to keep avatar online (this communication can be examined in browser's network inspector).
The "Save password with SpeedLight" checkbox just saves the password in your browser only.
## Storing other data
SpeedLight website may store the other data: last login time, last login location, IM history and L$ transaction history.
You may irreversibly remove these data by removing your avatar. The future updates will include automatic and on-demand cleanup of the sensitive data.
IM history can be end-to-end [encrypted](/viewer-features/im-history-encryption) to prevent storing your messages with SpeedLight.
